Return to Oz (1985)

Return To Oz is a 1985 dark fantasy film released by Walt Disney Pictures, co-written and directed by Walter Murch. It stars Nicol Williamson, Jean Marsh, Piper Laurie (RIP), and Fairuza Balk as Dorothy Gale in her first big screen role. The film is an unofficial sequel to the 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film The Wizard of Oz, and it is based on L. Frank Baum's early 20th century Oz novels, mainly The Marvelous Land of Oz (1904) and Ozma of Oz (1907).

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

The Wizard of Oz is a 1939 American musical fantasy film produced by MGM. An adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's fantasy novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the film was primarily directed by Victor Fleming, who left at nearly the end of production to take over the troubled Gone with the Wind. It stars Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke, and Margaret Hamilton. The music was composed by Harold Arlen and adapted by Herbert Stothart, with lyrics by Edgar "Yip" Harburg. One of the most iconic films of all time, it is remembered for its use of Technicolor, fantasy storytelling, music, and characters.

Thirteen Ghosts, also known as THIR13EN Ghosts, is a 2001 supernatural horror film directed by Steve Beck in his directorial debut, and written by Neal Marshall Stevens and Richard D’Ovidio. Robert Zemeckis and Joel Silver served as producers. The film stars Tony Shalhoub, Embeth Davditz, Matthew Lillard, Shannon Elizabeth, Rah Digga, and F. Murray Abraham. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors is a 1987 American fantasy slasher film directed by Chuck Russell. The story was developed by Wes Craven and Bruce Wagner with a screenplay that included the talents of Frank Darabont. It’s the third installment in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The film stars Heather Langenkamp, Patricia Arquette, Laurence Fishburne, Priscilla Pointer, Craig Wasson, and Robert Englund as primetime star-maker Freddy Krueger. The music for the film was composed by Angelo Badalamenti of Twin Peaks fame, with a theme song titled “Dream Warriors” performed by the American Heavy Metal band Dokken.

The Ring Two (2005)

The Ring Two is a 2005 American psychological supernatural horror film and sequel to the 2002 film The Ring. Hideo Nakata, director of Ringu, the Japanese film on which the American versions are based, directed this film in place of Gore Verbinski. Naomi Watts, David Dorfman and Daveigh Chase reprised their roles with Simon Baker, Elizabeth Perkins and Sissy Spacek joining the cast.

The Ring (2002)

The Ring is a 2002 American psychological supernatural horror film directed by Gore Verbinski from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, and starring Naomi Watts, Martin Henderson and Brian Cox. It is a remake of Hideo Nakata's 1998 film Ring, based on Koji Suzuki's 1991 novel of the same name. The plot centers on Rachel Keller, a journalist who must figure out a way to escape death after watching a cursed videotape that seemingly kills the viewer seven days after viewing it.

The Witch (2015)

The Witch is a 2015 folk horror film written and directed by Robert Eggers in his feature directorial debut. The Craft (1996)

The Craft  is a 1996 American teen supernatural horror film directed by Andrew Fleming from a screenplay by Peter Filardi and Fleming. The film stars Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True. It follows four outcast teenage girls at a Los Angeles parochial high school who pursue witchcraft for their own gain and subsequently experience negative repercussions. The music for the film was composed by Graeme Revell, and features a fairly killer soundtrack.

Legend (1985)

Legend is a 1985 American epic dark fantasy adventure film directed and initiated by Ridley Scott and starring Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, Tim Curry, David Bennent, Alice Playten, Billy Barty, Cork Hubbert, and Annabelle Lanyon. The film revolves around Jack, a pure being who must stop the Lord of Darkness who plots to cover the world with eternal night. 

Although not a commercial success when first released, the film would find audiences after its release in the booming 80’s home video market and through repeat playing on cable networks. The film has gone on to become a cult classic, especially after a Director’s Cut was released.
